Pace of Mind North Norfolk and Waveney offers the opportunity to get fit, make friends and to explore green spaces: improve your fitness, increase your sense of wellbeing and boost your connection with nature.
What is Pace of Mind?
Pace of Mind is Norfolk and Waveney Mind’s physical activity group, created to promote participation for people with mild to moderate mental health conditions, so they can improve their physical and mental wellbeing in a sociable and caring environment and find friendship and support. Norfolk and Waveney Mind developed this model in partnership with Active Norfolk in 2018, and we have since implemented it with several partners across Norfolk.
Pace of Mind is based on the knowledge that physical activity, especially outdoors, is a key factor in alleviating common mental health issues such as depression and anxiety and can boost our overall resilience to emotional distress.
Our friendly walking and running groups take place in green (and blue!) spaces and are suitable for people of all levels of fitness. Participants engage in an activity of their choice, during which they can meet and chat with other people. After the run or walk, there is an optional chance to carry on being sociable over a hot drink.
We also offer regular forest-bathing sessions, which are a way of spending time in nature mindfully to boost relaxation and connection to the life around us.
From December 2024 Sport England has funded a new round of Pace of Mind – North Norfolk and Waveney Valley in Lowestoft and Sheringham
